Description : The guiding philosophy of the undergraduate program of the School of Communication Studies is to bring together the best features of liberal arts and professional education. The core courses combine theory and practice as they seek to teach students the historical and conceptual foundations of the communication field. At the same time they equip students with skills in speaking, writing, critical thinking, discussion, and problem solving. The individual concentrations and their associated courses specialize in different branches of the communication field. Complementing the core courses and the concentration courses is a related area requirement obligating students to take a minimum of 28 hours of courses consonant with their concentrations and career aspirations.
